Something I have wanted to do ever since Ryan and I got married and were living under the same roof is have a special photo shoot in our first home together. I first saw the idea on Pinterest (surprise, surprise) of a couple who had darling photos taken inside and outside of their first home together before they moved in. I originally wanted to do this at our previous house, but at the time, we were finalizing wedding plans, getting married, traveling and navigating how to combine two lives (and everything that goes with it) into one. Before we knew it, a year went by and we still hadn't had a chance to get the photos done. Fast forward a few more years, and we were already outgrowing our first house.
Even though it wasn't in our plans to move, it was clearly a part of God's plan for us to start a new chapter in our lives and move into our new home this year. We had some unexpected life twists and turns happen as we were closing on this house and getting ready to move, but once we got settled, the opportunity finally came for us to have "Our first home" photo shoot with Brooke of Brooke Taelor Photography.
Technically, it works out for the best because even though it is our second residence, this is OUR first home together since we signed both of our names on the papers this time (;
This was my first time working with Brooke, but she is seriously THE sweetest person and was the easiest to work with from beginning to end!
She came to our home fully prepared with great suggestions, poses, and a clear vision to bring my idea to life, but the best part was her making us feel comfortable in our own home, even though we were interacting together in front of the camera. Ryan kept joking about how he's not used to being in front of the camera. #instagramhusband, haha!
She let us be our silly, playful, and (mostly) loving selves and captured some truly beautiful moments in some of our favorite spots in our home.
These are the moments, not the things, I want to remember and cherish forever.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with Brooke for this shoot. As you can tell, there are SO many great photos for us to choose from, but these are a few of my absolute favorites! I especially love how she incorporated special things like our handmade (by my crafty husband) dining room table and window seat that I have always wanted into our photos. She captured each little moment and turned it into something magical. I can't thank her enough for finally helping me make this one small dream a reality!
I hope y'all enjoyed this post as much as I did writing it, even though I am a little biased.
Stay tuned for another fun collaboration with Brooke coming to the blog soon!
Little bitty love,
