I am so excited to introduce y'all to one of the sweetest new online boutiques in Texas, Sweet Melon Boutique!
Sweet Melon Boutique is Aggie owned and operated (Whoop!) by Kendall Brown, a fellow fashion enthusiast, and a former Texas Watermelon Queen!
I first met Kendall during my "reign" as Texas Watermelon Queen when it was time to pass down the crown and choose the next Public Relations Representative and Ambassador for the Texas Watermelon Association for the coming year. To become the representative of the Texas Watermelon Association, you must go through a series of speeches, impromptu questions, panel interviews, and display kindness, beauty, and poise. As the Texas Watermelon Queen, you represent the growers, packers, distributors and all those involved in Texas Watermelon and the agriculture industry.
Fun Fact #1: There are 8 regional Watermelon Queens across the U.S. (Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mar-Del, and Illiana) and 1 National Watermelon Queen, who travels second to Miss America.
Seriously. Google it.
Haha. Now I know this might seem s0 strange or very random to some (especially those not from Texas or the south), but as someone who comes from a family with deep agricultural roots, this association and its people are like a second family to me, and that experience was one of the single greatest learning and growing experiences of my life.
Fun Fact #2: Kendall became the Texas Watermelon Queen right after me! After Kendall graduated from Texas A&M and married her sweetheart, a Texas watermelon grower, she opened Sweet Melon Boutique. Sweet Melon is an online women's clothing boutique based out of Balmorhea, Texas that features fun, casual clothing with a sweet, Texas twist!
This floral cold shoulder top from the summer collection is one of my favorite pieces from the boutique.
I love the flirty little ruffles, the trendy cold shoulder silhouette, and the vibrant floral print with pops of bright blue on this blouse. This darling top can be great for everyday paired with a pair of distressed boyfriend shorts and sandals, or for a casual date night with skinny jeans and wedges. I think it could even be worn into fall with the right layering pieces and a pair of riding boots. I styled this blouse for a summer date night in my Articles of Society skinny jeans from Nordstrom, my go-to Sugarfix by Baublebar drop earrings, my favorite little straw purse, and Jessica Simpson wedges.
To celebrate my collaboration with Sweet Melon Boutique, we will be hosting a special GIVEAWAY over on Instagram! Be sure to follow along for entry details and your chance to win!
I hope y'all have a very happy Friday and a safe weekend, especially to all of my Texas friends and family enduring Hurricane Harvey this weekend. My prayers are with you!
