A few weekends ago, I had the opportunity to accompany my sweet husband to a trade association conference just outside of Austin at the beautiful Hyatt Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop. We had been to the resort once before, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves among the fresh air, green pine trees, and the cool lazy river, so we were looking forward to this weekend once again. Some may call it work, but we chose to see it as a little weekend getaway.
Our first night consisted of getting ready for dinner and friendly conversation, followed by casino games and cocktails. I'm certainly no gambler, but I can hold my own at the black jack table. Especially when there's no real money involved! The next morning, Ryan snuck out early for the big golf tournament, which left me with a king sized bed surrounded by fluffy white pillows and blankets. What is it about billowy white hotel sheets and pillows that are so comfortable?! Needless to say, I kept those curtains drawn and let myself sleep in. When I woke up, there was a bright, sunny day ahead of me. Being on the mini vacation that I was, I decided to put off the day just a little bit longer and watch some TV in bed. But first, I needed coffee, so I went down to the cafe through the great lawn right outside our door. One iced macchiato and a blueberry muffin later, I was all set for a relaxing morning in bed. We don't have a TV in our room at home, so any time we go on vacation and get to watch TV from bed is a treat! (I highly recommend this!)
After I finished my coffee and a few episodes of Fixer Upper, I decided it was time to head to the pool and soak in the sunshine. We spent the next few hours laying out, reading under the umbrella, and taking a few trips around the lazy river with an iced cold drink in hand. That evening, we got ready for dinner, then took a stroll around the grounds.
It is so nice and peaceful out there.
On our last morning at the resort, I wanted to take one more photo walk around the grounds and admire all of the pretty landscaping. I wore this darling new summer arrival from Lovely Mae Boutique and felt effortlessly cute and comfortable. As we came upon this pretty space, I realized I even matched the surroundings! I love a good floral print and the bold orangey-red color. Jewel tones are some of my favorite colors to wear, and this romper incorporates so many pretty colors and details. My favorite part about it though is the braided strappy back, not to mention it's under $50!
I paired my look with these simplet-strap slide sandals and this adorable statement clutch, but can easily see myself layering it with acardigan or denim jacket and wedges or booties when the temperature drops. Eventually.
After a nice little weekend away, we headed back to Austin with smiles on our faces and empty tummies just in time for brunch! It was the best kind of weekend, but I am always happy to go home to our sweet kitty and be home.
